In all living things, there is an unseen energy flowing through. There are many names for it: prana, qi, ki and biofield energy. When this energy is low, you are more susceptible to illness and stress. 

Reiki Therapy is a Japanese healing  technique that promotes stress reduction and relaxation to the client through Life Energy. The practitioner will focus on the Chakras, The Aura and The Meridians within the body. The Reiki Practitioner's hands are simply held at each location, lightly touching or slightly away from the body. The Reiki Energy flows from the practitioners hands into the client's body and energy field. A Reiki session feels like a wonderful flowing radiance that surrounds and fills you with feelings of relaxation, peace and well being that also promotes healing. Reiki is often used as a complementary health practice for Western Medicine. 

Guided Mindfulness Meditation is a technique that also promotes stress reduction and relaxation through awareness, balancing of The Seven Chakras and connecting the Mind, Body and Soul. This practice has a variety of psychological and health benefits. Your body relaxes, your breathing calms and you are brought into the present moment. Meditation is an ancient tradition that is practiced in many cultures and faiths all over the world. Although it is not religious in nature, it is less about faith and more about achieving self peace, self awareness and different levels of consciousness. During a typical session, your coach will assist you in becoming as comfortable as possible. 

A personal session built to your needs. Yin Yoga assists in stretching and lengthening your deep connective tissues; your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. It’s slow, meditative and gives you space to turn inward and tune into both your mind and the physical sensations of your body. Each pose is held for a longer period of time than traditional yoga. Yin Yoga can help with anxiety, depression, chronic pain, arthritis and stress.

How We Can Help

Melanie Jamieson, the owner of Kier 48 Holistic Therapy and Master Reiki Practitioner & Meditation Coach has been practicing meditation for over a decade. She earned her Usui Reiki Practitioner I, II, Master and Animal Reiki certifications through The Maryland Center of Reiki Training and is a member of The International Center for Reiki Training. As an Executive Contributor for Brainz Magazine, she pens Health and Wellness articles providing insight and guidance. She received her Yin Yoga Certification through My Vinyasa Practice Austin, TX and studied at University of Maryland and College of Southern Maryland. Melanie also volunteers her time providing holistic care with Hospice of The Chesapeake. Prior to founding Kier 48, Melanie served 20 years with the Anne Arundel County Police Department, most notably as a Negotiator with the Conflict Negotiation Team. Through this journey, she has gained the knowledge and experience to provide each client with personalized care in a compassionate nature.
